Promoted to Glory – Bandsman, Major Ted Kimmins

A current and active member of Heritage Brass, Major Ted Kimmins, was “Promoted to Glory” 0n May 5, 2021.

Ted was a member of Heritage Brass since 2008, contributing as a member of the baritone section and by his fine example as a Christian Gentleman.

Major Kimmins had previously been a member of the Canadian Staff Band and Oshawa Temple band, thoroughly enjoying his banding experience.

Ted entered the Salvation Army Training College from Hamilton Argyle Corps and was commissioned in June 1977, as a member of the Companions of Christ session, along with his wife Ruth.

After commissioning, Ted and Ruth were stationed as Corps Officers in New Brunswick and Ontario. In 1981, Ted became Divisional Youth Secretary and Ruth Divisional Guide Leader in Saskatchewan where they remained until 1984. At the conclusion of their term in Saskatchewan, Ted and Ruth returned to Corps appointments in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario, one appointment being Oshawa Temple,

From 1998 until 2001, the Kimmins served in the Manitoba & North West Ontario Division with Ted serving as the Divisional Secretary for Program.

In 2001 they moved to Ontario where Ted served as Public Relations Director of the Ontario Central Division, with Ruth at THQ in the Corps Ministries Department as Director of Refugee Services and Director of Intercultural Ministries.

Ted and Ruth entered retirement on December 1, 2008.

The members of Heritage Brass will certainly miss Ted but know with confidence that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, whom he served so faithfully throughout his life
