Curtis Metcalf is honoured to be the interim bandmaster of Heritage Brass, bringing to the band his experience as an educator, conductor, soloist and freelance musician. Curtis was the euphonium soloist for the Canadian Staff Band for more than a decade, and the euphonium soloist for the Hannaford Street Silver Band for thirty years, as well as being appointed as its Artistic Director and Resident Conductor for ten of those years.
As a Conductor, Curtis has had the opportunity to collaborate with outstanding soloists and ensembles including Jens Lindemann, Allen Vizzutti, Joe Alessi, Robert and David Childs, James Morrison, Autorickshaw, the Nathaniel Dett Chorale and the Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus.
As a freelance musician, Curtis has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, Spiritual to the Bone and True North Brass.
